Corporate Coaching - FAQ
What is coaching?
Coaching is a one-on-one process between a Client and a Coach where individual action plans are developed regarding a particular project, need, or organisational challenge. The focus with coaching is on forward movement that is realistic, with the Client making improvements that generate new levels of performance - the Coach is the facilitator/catalyst.
What is Executive Coaching?
Executive Coaching is custom-designed for the mid to senior level Executive who wishes to enhance their personal effectiveness and leadership style and capabilities through continued development. The initial assessment is usually face-to-face and the on-going coaching relationship may be conducted by telephone or face to face.
How does coaching work?
Coaching works on a number of levels which include:
- Observing individual and/or group/team behaviours
- Exploring belief systems & internal perspectives
- Challenging thoughts, situations and ideas
- Eliciting new approaches to problems
- Mentoring to foster innovation and development
- Reorganising priorities i.e. encouraging balance in professional and personal life management
What is the Coach's role in an organisation?
Organisational functioning IS about HOW employees perform and how productive and effective they are.
The Coach's role in an organisation is to:
- work with management on a strategic level
- observe, feedback and reflect on various behaviours within the organisation, utilising assessments as appropriate
- facilitate change through coaching and mentoring.
What approach do you take to coaching in the organisation?
Coaching in the organisation revolves around:
- Establishing what business results/outcomes are required
- Deciding on what behaviours are needed to accomplish the results
- Exploring the individual leadership challenges to accomplish the results
- Identifying specific behaviours to strengthen/lessen (use of Genos Emotional Intelligence Assessments and DISC & Motivators Assessments)
- Conversation, feedback, fieldwork, programs to achieve the results.
Goals/outcomes are agreed based upon the organisational results required:
- Goal: Reduce staff turnover
- Measure of Goal/Outcome: 70% retention rate
Personal goals often underpin work goals, and these can be managed by establishing their purpose and value to the organisation, as invariably, through eliminating internal obstacles, external achievement occurs.
How long does coaching take?
This depends on the Client, the goals/outcomes required and the level of willingness of the Client to interact and contribute.
Sandee has had success with Clients in as few as 4 sessions. Clients have also come initially for 3-6 months of coaching, and are still enjoying sessions a year later.
Sandee also has Clients, once the initial coaching period is over, that choose to arrange an on-going monthly session because they enjoy the interaction and benefit from a regular call.
